N'gorongoro Crater is quite a sight to see. This large caldera is about 12 km across and supports an active ecosystem. Animals can and do enter and exit the crater at their own will. Vegetation along the rim during this trip tended to be fairly green with a good number of trees and shrubs, while the crater floor was fairly dry. There is a large lake in the crater; a small portion of it is seen in the background of this photo. I'm not sure why I was wearing a jacket at the time of the photo as the temperature was really comfortable. N'gorongoro Crater, Saturday, June 10, 2006.
